Rock Rising is excited to produce shows throughout the year and our committed group of young actors continue to inspire us!
Rock Rising is built on a collaborative, community-oriented approach to theater. We love when our shows have a diversity of ages, abilities and experiences. We believe this makes our shows stronger! Our cast of Peter Pan Junior has actors as young as 5 on the stage. These tiny, new actors will learn the ropes in the same cast as many seasoned, older actors. What a treat for all of them, both mentors and mentees! In order to keep this opportunity free for our students, we are crowdsourcing. Script written by Mary McDonnell with music by Michael Alan Johnson, Summer Dregs & Paul Smallman. Join us for a staged reading. This reading will feature Sydney Kenton, Miciah Wallace, Ella Baumann, Hannah Carter, Jack Roden, Johnny Rabe, Leah Reineck, Catrina Contini, Elijah Martinez & Yasmin Ranz-Lind. Directed by Julie Drexler Johnson.

Halloween Costume Competition @ Bohemian Beer Garden
Spend Halloween with us!
Join us on Tuesday, 10/31/2023 at the Bohemian Beer Garden (29-19 24th Ave, Astoria, 11102) after you trick-or-treat! Buy One Get One drinks all night for those in a costume! Prizes for costume winners called at 7pm. Family/Group costumes qualify, judges will decide on winners between 5:30p-7pm. In order to participate in the competition you must arrive to the Beer Garden before 7pm.
You can arrive as early as 5pm, the event is free (no RSVP required, just drop in!) and open to the public - KIDS ARE WELCOME!
Pumpkin Painting & Carving Station
Join us for our first collaboration with 31st Avenue Open Street at our pumpkin creation station! Led by our featured artist Elizabeth Johnson. We are so excited! Come by from 3-7pm. Event is FREE! This is our first time partnering with 31st Avenue Open Street and we have a feeling it’s not the last…!

Fall Paint & Sip! Join us for our first event of the fall.
Every person will have their own paint, paintbrushes, canvas, water cup, paint tray, and apron. Each ticket includes drinks and treats, but you can also BYOB! The canvas is yours to keep and take home.
We will be led by Rock Rising's current Featured Artist Elizabeth Johnson. Limited space!
Live Concert Reading - Godlings Three, a new musical
Script written by Mary McDonnell with music by Michael Alan Johnson, Summer Dregs & Paul Smallman. Join us for the first EVER live concert reading. This reading will feature live music and acting! Summer Dregs, Michael Johnson & Paul Smallman will be playing live and the script will be delivered by a small group of young performers who have worked with Rock Rising on developing new shows. It'll be a night to remember! You will have a chance to meet the creators of the show and see the early development of a new musical. Hope to see you there!

Rock Rising is hosting an informal, informational meeting about bringing some new theater opportunities to central Astoria. We have preliminary plans and ideas that we are eager to share with you! But we are even more excited to hear about you and your ideas!
